Planning a Visit to Independence?
There are several opportunities to experience worship, explore
sacred spaces, and look into church history at and around the World Headquarters
complex.
Guided tours of the
Community of Christ Temple and Auditorium - Walk the worshiper's path, meditate
in the chapel overlooking the Japanese garden, and hear the story of the church
from dedicated volunteers and possibly the testimony of a WorldService Corps
guide from outside North America.
Worship Services - Each day the Temple sanctuary has a
Prayer for Peace. Also find locations of approximately 40 area congregations
that welcome visitors for worship.
Organ recitals - June through August recitals are held every day
on either the Temple Casavant or the Auditorium
Aeolian-Skinner pipe organs. During other months, recitals are held every
Sunday.
The Children's
Peace Pavilion - Housed in the Auditorium, this hands-on museum caters to
youngsters of all ages with its unique, interactive exhibits.
Heritage Plaza - The Joseph
Luff house serves as the tour office for the F. M. Smith Study and the Flournoy
House, two of the oldest houses in Independence.
