Eleven Years of RVA Ministry
During World Conference 1996, as RVers visited with one another,
they discussed the idea of forming a church-sponsored RV Association. The first
official gathering was in October 1998 at the Campus RV Park, Independence,
Missouri. A steady flow of motor homes started pulling in on Sunday and did not
stop until Monday.
Each arrival was a homecoming. People came from all walks of life, coming
together to serve the Lord in a productive way. There was much joy and
enthusiasm for the opportunities.
The first project of the newly formed RVA was enclosing the shelter house at the
Campus RV Park. Men and women worked side-by-side on various projects.
At first, word of mouth was the only method of communication. As we progressed,
a schedule of projects was developed. A booth at the 2000 World Conference
launched the beginning of individual requests for projects.
Since that time, RVA has volunteered more than 50,000 hours throughout the
United States and Mexico, saving the church thousands of dollars per year and
ministering to many souls. The organization is more than anyone ever could have
imagined. It is a blessing to the church.
You are invited to participate in this rewarding, ongoing service for Christ.
Some travel to sites across the USA, while others participate close to home.
Those who do not own RVs stay in dorms and cabins while working. Many hands
working together lighten the load. Every person who comes to work strengthens
the success of the mission, helping preserve these sites for future generations.
Thomas Jefferson said, “To prepare for our future, we must preserve the past.”
