Oblation Provides Food and Shelter in Haiti
Thanks to the generosity of Oblation Fund contributors, a total of $55,000
has been provided for aid across Haiti. We have nearly 400 congregations there
plus more church plants.
The World Food Program cites that well over half of Haiti’s population lives
on less than one US dollar per day. The levels of food insecurity and
malnutrition are also significant. The spiraling cost of living has led to
violence, including food riots. In April, $20,000 was granted to help provide
food to our sisters and brothers throughout the Haiti Mission Center.
Over time, natural disasters have taken an additional toll on Haiti
residents. In May, $35,000 was granted to repair La Reserve congregation in
northwestern Haiti. Hurricanes damaged the building where approximately 300
people gather for worship and it has become too dangerous to use.
Assistant to the Africa and Haiti Mission Field apostle Johnny Stabno said,
“Thank you on behalf of people in Haiti. We all appreciate people’s generous
support of the Oblation Fund, which helps immensely with ongoing needs.”
