Organ Camp at Graceland
Graceland University will sponsor an organ camp on its Lamoni, Iowa, campus,
August 14–18. This is a great opportunity to grow your congregation’s musicians.
Attendees must be between the ages of 13 and 18. Prior keyboard training is
required and campers must be able to play at least at an intermediate level.

Each day, students at the camp will enjoy private organ lessons. They will
also have designated practice times. A variety of class topics will be offered,
including organ construction, registration, practice techniques, hymnody, hymn
playing, and careers in organ. Other activities will include a faculty recital,
hymn sing, student talent show, and closing student recital.
Campers will have an opportunity to take a field trip to Community of Christ
world headquarters in Independence, Missouri. There they will be able to play
two world-class organs—the four-manual, 113-rank Aeolian-Skinner in the
Auditorium and the four-manual, 102-rank Casavant in the Temple.
Organ faculty will include Dr. David Pickering, Graceland University
assistant professor of music, and Dr. Jan Kraybill, Community of Christ
principal organist and director of music.
The registration fee for the camp is $150, which includes lodging and food
expenses. For further information and registration forms, please contact Dr.
Pickering at dpickeri@graceland.edu or (641) 784-5082.
