WORLD CHURCH SECRETARY
25 September 2006: The First Presidency has named Andrew M. Shields of
Independence, Missouri, to serve as World Church Secretary, effective October 1,
2006. Brother Shields is a graduate of Graceland University and is a published
author of fiction and poetry. He has previously served the church as an
administrative assistant in the office of the Council of Twelve.
“We are pleased to have someone of Andrew’s talent and commitment to serve as
World Church Secretary,” said President Stephen M. Veazey. “He has been a highly
valued staff member in the Council of Twelve, and we look forward to his service
in our office.”
His predecessor, A. Bruce Lindgren, has elected to accept an early retirement
offer that was extended to eligible field and headquarters staff as a part of a
process of headquarters redesign and field minister redeployment. Brother
Lindgren will continue to offer his services on a part-time basis during a
period of transition. THE FIRST PRESIDENCY
