  • WORLD CHURCH SECRETARY
    25 September 2006: The First Presidency has named Andrew M. Shields of Independence, Missouri, to serve as World Church Secretary, effective October 1, 2006. Brother Shields is a graduate of Graceland University and is a published author of fiction and poetry. He has previously served the church as an administrative assistant in the office of the Council of Twelve.

    “We are pleased to have someone of Andrew’s talent and commitment to serve as World Church Secretary,” said President Stephen M. Veazey. “He has been a highly valued staff member in the Council of Twelve, and we look forward to his service in our office.”

    His predecessor, A. Bruce Lindgren, has elected to accept an early retirement offer that was extended to eligible field and headquarters staff as a part of a process of headquarters redesign and field minister redeployment. Brother Lindgren will continue to offer his services on a part-time basis during a period of transition. THE FIRST PRESIDENCY
