Community Covenant

Leader: The Spirit of the Lord God is with us.

Congregation: We have been anointed to speak good tidings to the poor,

Leader: to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives;

Congregation: to give beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that we might be called the children of God.

Leader: We covenant anew to have courage for this task that is ours.

Congregation: We commit ourselves to study and earnest prayer that we may go forth to witness in love and concern for all people.

All: With joy we dedicate our lives to the work of Zion, and to this end may God’s Spirit be with us. Amen.
