Disciples’ Generous Response

Reflection

Each of us are called to give our lives to God. This includes our time, our talents, and our finances.

Our lives are gifts from God. God is waiting for us to acknowledge our blessings and live a life of thankfulness to the Giver.

We are witnesses today, in this ordination service, of one of the ways that our lives are given back to God. At this time we have the opportunity to demonstrate the reality that we owe our existence to God and to give from our abundance.

Commitment Statement

In God’s name we shall reach out.

In God’s name we shall reach out to comfort.

In God’s name we shall love the sinner even as ourselves and even as we are sinners.

In God’s name we shall walk from here with renewed hope.

In God’s name we shall climb mountains,
          tumble into valleys, cross oceans,
or our street, to minister to God’s people.

For they who serve the Lord shall renew their strength:

They shall mount up with wings like eagles.

We shall run and not be weary and shall walk and not faint.

Send us forth, God, through the night of our fears and the death of our selfish indulgences, into the dawn of a new life of service to your people wherever and however we may find them. Amen.
