Challenge to the Congregation
Congregational Response
Leader: We are the body of Christ.
Congregation: Many members, but one body.
Leader: Each one is an important part of the body.
Congregation: And each one brings their own gifts to the body.
Leader: Today these new members become part of the body.
Congregation: We joyfully accept them with their gifts.
Leader: There are many gifts, but one Spirit. Many kinds of services, but
one Lord.
Congregation: It is God who unites us.
Leader: Because we are united, we know that when one member suffers, we
all suffer.
Congregation: When one member is honored, we all rejoice.
Leader: We are one body, the body of Christ, united in our faith, hope,
and love.
Congregation: And the greatest of these is love.
—Based on I Corinthians 12:12–13
