Come hear the marvelous Kansas City Symphony
in the magnificent acoustic of the Auditorium! Fresh from
their recording sessions in this space during the month of
January, the Symphony will perform a free public concert of
literature they have just recorded. The Symphony's 80-member
orchestra performs more than fifty concerts each year during
its 42-week season. In addition, these talented musicians
appear in other concerts, educational programs, and
community outreach performances. They also serve as the
orchestra for the Lyric Opera and Kansas City Ballet, and
for our own annual performance of Handel's Messiah.

Super Bowl Sunday Recital IX

Super Bowl Sunday has been called a de facto U.S.
national holiday, with the most-watched U.S. television
broadcast and the second-largest consumption of food (second
only to Thanksgiving Day). In 2008 it is estimated that
80-90 million Americans will watch the game, and 40-50
million more will tune in for the commercials. That
leaves 263 million of us to do something else! Each
year, 400-600 enthusiastic audience members enjoy Community
of Christ's charismatic Principal Organist in her annual
performance Super Bowl Sunday afternoon. Super Bowl Recital
IX will occur under the Auditorium dome and features the
exciting Sonata in D minor, composed in 1874 by Felix
Alexandre Guilmant, the world's first internationally-famous

Temple Re-Opening
Celebration

Sanctuary Reopening Postponed
Work is progressing to replace worn flooring in the
Temple Sanctuary and Worshiper’s Path. While much of the
work is completed as scheduled, the implementation of the
design has not met our expectations.
The Temple experience is important in the life and
ministries of the Community of Christ. To ensure the best
experience for our members and friends, we will delay
reopening the Temple Sanctuary and Worshiper’s Path to
address this issue. The reopening activities and worship
service planned for May 2 and 4 are postponed. A new
timeline is being established and details will be shared as
soon as possible.
The Prayer for Peace will continue to be held in the
Temple Meditation Chapel at 1 p.m. (Central Daylight Time)
each day and in the many places throughout the world where
people join in lifting their voices in prayer.
Thank you for your understanding and all that you do to
share the peace of Jesus Christ.
