A Service of Ordination or Setting Apart
A Service of Ordination or Setting Apart
A New Creation in Christ
Worship Setting
The focal point of the worship setting should be a tree. A five-gallon
bucket of wet sand serves as the base for low-hanging branches that have
been cut prior to the service. A large artificial tree would also work.
White construction paper doves should be inserted into the bulletins for
each person attending the service.
We Gather in His Name
Welcome
Presider invites congregation to write on the doves enclosed in the
bulletins, sharing with the ordinand(s) words of support, love, or a
brief statement of a time when they have seen Christ in this person.
After the ordination(s,) the doves will be placed on the tree and
later given to the ordinand(s).

Call to Worship: II Corinthians 5:17–20 NIV®
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has
gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself
through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was
reconciling the world to himself in Christ . . . We are therefore Christ’s
ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.

We Belong to Christ
|
Reader 1:
|
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord
is, there is freedom.
|
Reader 2:
|
And we with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory.
|
Reader 1:
|
We are being transformed into his likeness.
|
Reader 2:
|
However, there are different kinds of gifts, but the same
Spirit.
|
Reader 1:
|
There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.
|
Reader 2:
|
There are different kinds of working, but the same God works
all of them in all people.
|
Reader 1:
|
All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives
them to each one just as he determines.
|
Reader 2:
|
Now all of you are the body of Christ. Celebrate
the giftedness of one another.
