A Service of Healing
A Service of Healing
Worship Setting
Place chair(s) draped with cozy, comforting-looking quilt(s) around the
room to be used for administration. The number of chairs used depends on the
size and needs of the congregation. Have a bouquet of wildflowers at the
front of the sanctuary. This service provides a setting for the congregation
to participate in the sacrament of administration.

Call to Worship
I lift my eyes to the mountains—
from where will my help come?
My help comes from Our God,
who made heaven and earth!
Our God won’t let our footsteps slip:
our Guardian never sleeps.
The Guardian of Israel
will never slumber, never sleep!
Our God is our Guardian,
Our God is our shade:
with God by our side,
the sun cannot overpower us by day,
nor the moon at night.
Our God guards us from harm,
guards our lives.
Our God guards our leaving and our coming back,
now and forever.
—Psalm 121 The Inclusive Psalms

We Lift Our Community in Faith
Focus Thoughts
Explain the sacrament of administration and perhaps, in general terms,
the nature of the needs of the people desiring administration.
|
Hymn of Preparation: "Come, Holy Spirit, Come"
Sing this song three times and then hum the tune a fourth time
through.
OR "Draw Thou My Soul, O Christ"

During the last stanza of the hymn, pair(s) of elders move to the chair(s).
At the conclusion of the song, those desiring administration move to an
available chair. The elders wrap the quilt around the shoulders of the
person requesting administration prior to anointing.
The Sacrament of Administration
Depending on the number of chairs and people expressing a desire for
administration, these prayers could be offered one at a time or
concurrently.
