allow the church to speak prophetically, to organize, and to address
legislation in a way consistent with our beliefs and rules. Discussion
and information sessions are available as avenues of deliberation for

Extreme Makeover
Service Project to
Aid Club, Build Community
(March 18. 2010)
As with past World Conference service projects, (like the Habitat for
Humanity build in 2007) the Makeover Project invites volunteers from all
over Community of Christ to come be a part of something special during
Conference week. Volunteers will have the opportunity to paint,
landscape, build, clean and so much more, as we transform the Boys and
Girls Club into a place where kids can thrive. This story will not be
complete without volunteers with a servant's heart from every skill
level who want to make a difference in someone's life.
The Extreme Makeover Project has a second and very exciting element that
promises to be of great value to individuals, congregations and
congregational outreach teams who are looking for ways to reach out to
their communities once the project is over and they have returned home.
The Boys and Girls Club will have representatives on site at various
times during the week to help members of Community of Christ make
connections to Boys and Girls Clubs all over the United States.
You are invited to help write the ending to this story. Your willingness
to volunteer during conference week will put your fingerprints on a
great chapter in the ongoing relationship with the Boys and Girls Club
and Community of Christ. Come share in the project and be prepared to
return to your community with the tools necessary to make a difference
where you live.
If you would like to find out more about this project or have specific
questions you are encouraged to contact the project manager
Tom
Cochran. or telephone 816/595-1737.
Sign up will also be available during Conference at the Extreme
Makeover booth, Auditorium first floor, east side, next to the
registration desk.

Satellite Broadcasting Ends
(posted October 19, 2009)
Worship services during World Conference will
only be available through webstreaming at
www.CofChrist.org. Many factors were considered in this decision and
plans are underway to test the capability of our webstream provider to
provide the best service possible. This change in procedure also means
Comcast users in the Eastern Jackson County, Missouri, and Olathe, Kansas areas will not have
access to worship services via cable television. Everyone is encouraged to
come to the Temple and Auditorium or logon to the website at
www.CofChrist.org/wc2010/.

The Presidency wants to hear your thoughts on conditions of membership by
November 30. Select from the discernment resources at
www.CofChrist.org/CofM/ to participate in the
worldwide church process. Please send your response by November 2009 to
PresidencyResponse@CofChrist.org or mail to International Headquarters,
c/o World Church Secretary Andrew Shields. All responses will be considered
by the First Presidency who will provide guidance before World Conference
2010.
2010 World Conference Resolutions Committee
(posted July 13, 2009)
In accordance with WCR 1155, a Resolutions Committee has been appointed
to help individuals prepare legislative items before submission to the World
Conference. Andrew Shields serves as committee chair.
The committee is advisory and optional. It is intended to ensure that
legislative proposals are written understandably, not in conflict with the
bylaws, implementable, and otherwise appropriate for consideration by the
World Conference. The committee is able to help at any point in the
legislative process, but review before consideration by the jurisdictional
conference is strongly advised.
Resolutions to be considered by the World Conference should address
significant issues that would concern the entire church. They should propose
actions that are clearly defined, capable of being readily implemented, and
aligned to directly address the concerns raised. All approved resolutions
must be submitted by December 11, 2009.
Anyone wishing to use the services of the
committee may address an inquiry to
Andrew Shields, chair, Resolutions Committee, 1001 W. Walnut,
Independence MO 64050. Inquiries also may be sent via
e-mail.
