Community Invited to World Market and International Hymn Festival

The entire community is especially invited to experience a World Market and Hymn Festival on Friday, March 30. The World Market will be a celebration of food, music, and crafts from around the world on the World Plaza, a brick inlaid map of the world, outside the west entrance of the Community of Christ Temple, 201 S. River, Independence.

Come sample representative foods from around the globe while enjoying music or purchasing crafts provided by Community of Christ members from the many nations in which the church is established. The market will be open from noon to 8:00 p.m.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. from the steps of the north entrance to the Community of Christ Auditorium, the St. Louis Osuwa Taiko drummers will call people from the market. The drumming will continue throughout a colorful procession of banners that will lead people from the World Market into the Auditorium’s Conference Chamber, where voices will join in song for the International Hymn Festival from 8:00-9:30 p.m.

The World Market and International Hymn Festival are part of the Community of Christ 2007 World Conference, March 24-31. This event brings together more than 5,000 people representing the more than 50 nations in which the Community of Christ is established.
