G-17 Continuing Scriptural Exploration of Peace and War
(referred to First Presidency) —
follow-up comments
From the Aaronic Mass Meeting:
Whereas, The World Conference Peace and Justice Committee operates under the
direction of the World Conference, and
Whereas, the instructions from the 2002 World Conference have been fulfilled
by the report given to the 2007 World Conference, and
Whereas, the report does not clearly address the scriptural teachings about
peace and war, and
Whereas, our youth, our priesthood, and our membership deserve clarification
of the church’s position on peace and war, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the 2007 World Conference empower the World Conference
Peace and Justice Committee to continue to explore all the ethical positions
related to peace and war in the light of scriptures, and be it further
Resolved, that the committee prepare a report for the 2010 World
Conference, and be it further
Resolved, That following the committee’s work that the appropriate
World Church offices prepare appropriate materials for teaching our youth and
for training our priesthood in providing counsel for our people.
