Share Your Life Experience at World Conference

The Community Share/Exchange project during World Conference will provide an opportunity for members from all cultures and age groups to express their sense of community through the sharing of stories, which will be recorded on video. These videos will be used to enhance selected church resources and will be archived so future generations in the church may be enriched by the sacred journey of those who have gone before them.

Community Share/Exchange is an effort to capture members’ stories, experiences, and perspectives related to the church’s mission and identity. Doctrine and Covenants 162 states:

2a. Listen carefully to your own journey as a people, for it is a sacred journey and it has taught you many things you must know for the journey yet to come.

4a. Listen carefully to the many testimonies of those around the world who have been led into the fellowship of the Community of Christ. The richness of cultures, the poetry of language, and the breadth of human experience permit the gospel to be seen with new eyes and grasped with freshness of spirit. That gift has been given to you. Do not fail to understand its power.

8a. You are a good and faithful people, but sometimes you fail to see the power that is resident in your own story and fellowship. Look carefully, listen attentively, and sense the Spirit among you.

Community Share/Exchange seeks to honor this guidance to listen carefully to the stories of our brothers and sisters, to share and value the breadth of the human experience, and to sense the power resident in our sacred journey. The richness of our experiences, when shared with one another, “permit the gospel to be seen with new eyes and grasped with freshness of spirit.”

Prepare to Share Your Story

Members from throughout the international community who choose to participate in Community Share/Exchange will offer responses to one or more of the following questions. Each person’s response may include their thoughts, feelings, perspectives, and life experiences.

  • What out of your life experiences has brought you to your present understanding of Community of Christ’s identity and mission?
  • What are your hopes for the future of the Community of Christ?
  • What do you see as your connection with the unfolding mission of the church?
  • Lisa Carpenter and Pam Luce reporting
