Local Leaders Attend International Conference

Representatives from the Community of Christ (congregation name) congregation in (city, state) will gather with 2,800 delegates and hundreds of visitors from around the world to participate in the international Community of Christ 2005 World Conference. (Names) will serve as delegates. The Conference will be held June 2–5 at Community of Christ World Headquarters in Independence, Missouri.

Representatives of the church’s 250,000 members will travel from more than 50 nations to come together for worship, discipleship activities, and to consider church business. The main purpose of this year’s Conference is to provide for ordination of a new president and calls of other church leaders. Exploring the theme “Lift Up an Ensign of Peace,” Conference events will be simultaneously translated into French, Tahitian, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese.

The opening legislative session and worship service will be held on Thursday, June 2, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the 6,000-seat Community of Christ Auditorium Conference Chamber. Additional legislative meetings will be held on Friday morning and afternoon, followed by an evening service of ordination for the president from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, the president will offer a sermon during the 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. worship. The World Conference will close on Sunday following an 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. service of Communion and sending forth.

All legislative sessions and worship services are open to the public and, for the first time, all sessions will be broadcast live on the Web (www.CofChrist.org/wc2005/) and C-band satellite. Two services will also be broadcast live via DISH Network channel 9602: Friday evening worship featuring the ordination of the president from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. central daylight time; and Saturday evening worship featuring a sermon by the president from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. central daylight time.
