| On the edge of the plaza is an iron sculpture of a man beating a sword
into a plowshare as a child watches.
 |
Beyond the sculpture to the southwest is the Community of Christ
Auditorium. Construction of this unique domed building began in 1926 but
progress was slowed by the Great Depression. It was ultimately finished in
1962.

The west entrance to the Auditorium, added in the 1990s,
provides a contemporary appearance to the building.

The 5800-seat oval Conference Chamber is home to the large worship
services and business meetings of the church's biennial World Conference.

|
Translations are provided from glassed-in control rooms on
the east side of the Conference Chamber.
 |
The pipes of the magnificent Aeolian-Skinner
organ are the visual
centerpiece of the Chamber. The largest pipes are 40 feet/12 meters tall;
the smallest are smaller than a pencil.
