Types of Projects Funded
Continued contributions to the Oblation Fund will make the following types
of ministry possible as congregations and other jurisdictions of the Community
of Christ join with their community members to bring together leadership,
volunteers, and financial resources.
These are the types of projects that have been funded to date:
- Advancing peace and understanding among diverse religious and cultural
communities
- After-school program for neighborhood latchkey children
- AIDS education and hospice care
- Camping experience for abused and neglected children
- Chronic mentally ill adults
- Clothes closet and computer lab
- Community reconciliation/mediation services
- Helping multicultural persons to integrate in American culture
- Homeless families to progress to self-sufficiency
- Kids after school drop-in center
- Learn and explore peaceful resolution of disputes
- Neighborhood enhancement using gifts of teens
- Parolee and immigrant assistance
- Peace Mobiles, museums, and community Young Peacemakers Club initiatives
- Recently released prisoners and at risk children
- Domestic violence shelter
- Temporary shelter for families with children
- Training disadvantaged, low-income persons on new technology
Be assured that your jurisdiction is NOT limited to these ministries. You
may very well be called to create a new ministry to address a unique need in
your community.
