SOCCER

Coordinator – Bryan and Kacey Courtney

Coaches Meeting: Sunday morning, 9:30 a.m. on Court 4 in the Gym

Tournament Divisions
    Girls – Red/Gold level
    Boys – Red/Gold level
    Coed – Blue/Green level

No coed red/gold team will be accepted., Please divide these teams or mix with other delegations.

Format: In general, the rules followed will be those to govern recreational and school league games as prescribed by the National Federation of State High School Associations. Due to the differing sizes of delegations who wish to participate and the various skill levels, there has been some modification of these rules. As always the final interpretation of the rules will be that of the official.

Field Size: Roughly 70 yards by 40 yards. This is to facilitate a faster moving game and smaller team size.

Team Size:  To better accommodate the smaller delegation who wish to compete, and due to the area we have to play on, all teams will have only 7 players on the field. This number includes the goalie.

The boys Red/Gold teams cannot have any girls. The girls Red/Gold teams cannot have any boys.

The coed teams of Blue/Green must have at least three girls on the field at all times, however, they may have more girls on the field if they desire.

Equipment: SPECTACULAR will provide game balls and will have shin guards for all players who do not have their own. Shin guards will be required attire for all players on the field.

Team uniforms: All players of the same team must wear the same color shirt or jersey. The exception being the goalie who must wear a different color than their teammates.

No jewelry will be worn on the field. Taping jewelry will not be allowed.

Length of play: Two 15-minute halves with a five minute half-time. Play must begin at the assigned time. There will be a 10-minute grace period to allow for late arrivals if needed. If a delegation cannot field a team within this time period, they will forfeit the game. The exception to this rule will be if the delay is caused by scheduling conflict or time overruns from another sports competition. In this event, the head soccer referee must be notified by a delegation official.

Substitution: Unlimited substitutions are allowed. A team may substitute only when they are in control of the ball, during a throw-in, or corner kick. Both teams may substitute after a goal is scored before the kick-off to restart play or on a goal kick. The referee must be notified when the team makes a goalie change.

Tie-breaker: No matches will end in a tie. Ties at the end of regulation play will be decided in this way. First: A 5-minute sudden death overtime will be played. Then: A shoot-out will occur. Each team will have the opportunity to defend and take five penalty shots at a goal. Most goals scored will be the deciding factor.

Weather conditions: Matches will be played rain or shine. Lightening will prevent games from playing.

Unsportsman-like Conduct: Sportsman-like conduct is the expected norm of SPECTACULAR. Behavior any less than this will not be tolerated from players, coaches, or spectators. At the discretion of the official, offenders may receive an informal or formal warning. If this behavior continues, a penalty kick may be awarded by the official and the player or coach ejected from the match!

Players or coaches who are ejected from the play will also be barred from participating in the next match in which the team is scheduled to compete or longer. This will be at the discretion of the official in charge.

Protests may be made to the official only by the team captain or the coach.
