Resources for Defining Moment
A Defining Moment:
What it means for you and your congregation.
President Steve Veazey’s April 5, 2009, address to the
worldwide church, “A Defining Moment,” helps us focus on what matters most.
The address has been organized into video chapters with thought-provoking
questions to guide your exploration of what it means to become who God is
calling us to become. Use this resource in retreat settings, for personal
meditation, and for church school classes. |
- Grace and Generosity
- We Share: Identity, Mission, Message, and Beliefs
- Relating to our History
- The Nature of Scripture
- Discerning Conditions of Membership

- What behaviors express compassionate, generous living that
mirrors the generous nature of God?

2:
We Share: Identity, Mission, Message, and Beliefs (2:58)
Questions for Discussion:
- The concept of “We Share” is twofold. List some things we
share with each other as participants in Community of Christ.
List some things we generously share with the world.
- What would it look like if you embodied the Enduring
Principles in your life? In your congregation?
- Share testimonies of what your participation in specific
sacraments has meant in your life. How can we reach out and

this commonly stated approach? What do you think is behind such
a statement?

of Christian discipleship?

5:
Discerning Conditions of Membership (3:33)
Questions for Discussion:

you approach the question: Considering the worldwide mission of
Community of Christ, should we continue to the current of
rebaptizing Christians who want to become members of the
Community of Christ?
- Why is waiting for God’s input often so hard? What do you do
when your discernment efforts are met by silence?
- In what ways is the importance of the discernment process
greater than how we resolve this issue?
