Invitation

In the name of Jesus Christ, I welcome all who are gathered here and all who join us from around the world in praying for peace and are represented by the empty seats among us.

Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, reconciliation and healing of the spirit, we pray for peace and uphold one of the nations of the world.

Today we remember the people of Kuwait in our prayers.  The State of Kuwait is located in the northeast of the Arabian Peninsula.  With large oil reserves, Kuwait has built and maintained an impressive petroleum sector.  Ten percent of oil revenues are, by law, put into a trust to prepare for the day when Kuwait's massive oil reserves dry up.  Kuwait’s foreign policy is based on the principles of clarity, straightforwardness and quiet diplomacy.

During this season of Epiphany, we celebrate the light and hope that Christ brings to all creation.  As we unite in worship, may each of us be renewed in our commitment to share the light of Christ’s peace for the people of Kuwait and all nations.

Ever Living, Ever Loving Presence we call "God", we, your created humankind, come before you into communion with you and each other, seeking empowerment to reflect you - yes, to incarnate your love, your nature, your peace.

Created in your image, we would be loving.  As agents of your healing power, we would be whole.  As ministers of your grace, we would exemplify servanthood.

Created that we might have joy, we would praise with elation; accepting all others as you accept us, with unconditional love.

Healed by your Grace, we would be whole and thus enabled to become true instruments of your PEACE.

Thus we pray, Amen.

We praise You, God of all creation, for your mercy is vast, and your greatness beyond our comprehension.  Thank you for your loving presence which strengthens and sustains us.

We uphold for your blessing of peace the nation and people of Kuwait.  Guide the leaders of all nations in seeking ways to promote peace within and among nations.  Help us partner with leaders to promote policies and practices that support the just and equitable distribution of earth’s resources to sustain the well-being of all persons.

Our service concludes with ministry of music, and you are invited to remain in the quiet of this place and pray or meditate as long as you wish.

Let us go forth in peace aware of our clearest purpose which is to share Christ’s message of joy, hope, love and peace in our world wherever there is need.
