Invitation

I welcome you in the name of Christ and thank you for joining in this time of worship and prayer for peace.

Each day in this Temple, dedicated to the pursuit of peace, reconciliation and healing of the spirit, we pray for peace and uphold one of the nations of the world.

Today we remember the people of Mauritius in our prayers.  Mauritius is an island nation located off the southeast coast of Africa.  The country has achieved successful economic and human development by involving poorer sections of society in its economic growth.  Inflation and its impact on living costs remains a major concern.

We join with brothers and sisters of all nations in a common desire for just and peaceful communities.  As we unite in worship and prayer, we recognize our connectedness as a global community and seek peace for the people of Mauritius and all nations.

Prayer for Peace

God of all humanity,

As we unite in this time of worship and reflection, we take a few moments to pray for peace.
In each of our lives there are neighbors, friends or family who have strife in their homes – please send peace.

Many locations in our homeland and around the world have been touched by natural disasters and lives and livelihoods have been destroyed – please send peace.

Large cities and small towns both have contentions among their citizens – please send peace.

Nations stand again nation – for reasons of wealth and poverty, borders, power and greed - please send peace.

Or better yet – strengthen us to be instruments of your peace.

In the name of our brother, Jesus, we pray, Amen.
