Call to Prayer

We greet you in the name of the Prince of
Peace, and welcome today to this sacred place. Each day in this Temple
dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace in our
world. In addition, each day we pray for a different country.
Today we will lift up the people of Myanmar in our prayers. Located in
Southeastern Asia, Myanmar, known in the past as Burma, is an ethnic
melting pot. Myanmar is a resource-rich country with a strong
agricultural base, and is a leading producer of gems, jade, and teak.
However, military rule prevents the economy from developing, and the
Burmese people remain poor and are getting poorer. Those who promote
democracy and improved human rights are in danger of being harassed or
jailed.
Seldom does God shout to get our attention often just a whisper. Let us
listen ever so closely. God is calling ever so urgently. |

according to God’s purpose. |

Dear Creator of Love and Peace,
We come today, thankful for the privilege of living on this beautiful
planet. We pray for peace that we all might enjoy the beauties and
bounties of this earth.
We pray for peace between religions—for open minds and loving hearts
that no more evil would be done to others in the name of religion.
We pray for peace among different races. Let us look upon each other and
see others the way in which you see us— with love and understanding.
We ask for peace among nations and countries—for leaders who can guide
us toward tolerance and acceptance.
And please help us to find peace within our families, for families are
the foundation of our world.
Lastly, allow us to find peace in ourselves. Help us to love and accept
ourselves, as you love and accept us. We ask all these things, if it be
thy will, in Jesus' Holy Name. Amen. |

moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
O God, we come now to be with you and listen for your
voice. Please bless us with your presence. We want to hear what you
would teach us about bringing peace into this world. We desire to do
your will. |

We pray that the ministry of God's Holy Spirit in Myanmar may continue
to strengthen the peacemakers, and give them courage to share their
desire to be a nation of peace. |

You are invited to remain and pray or meditate in the quiet of this
place for as long as you may wish.
It is to this purpose of peace that we have been called and for which we
