Call to Prayer
Lighting of CandleInvitation |

Good afternoon, and we welcome
you to this sacred place in the name Jesus, our Savior. Each day in this
Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace in
our world. In addition, each day we pray for a different country.
Today we will lift up the people of Monaco in our prayers. Located in
western Europe, economic development was spurred in the late 19th
century with a railroad linkup to France and the opening of a casino.
The principality's mild climate and splendid scenery have made Monaco
world famous as a tourist and recreation center. Prince Rainier's rule
has modernized Monaco and weaned it from its dependence on gambling
revenue. Tourism is now the backbone of the economy. The principality
was admitted to the United Nations as a full member in 1993.
We greet you in the name of God, our Creator and Guide, who calls us to
worship. |

| Scripture Reading: Psalm 36:5-10 IP |
| |
Your love, Adonai, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.
Your justice is like the mountains in their splendor,
Your judgments like the great deep.
Whether human or animal, Adonai, you keep us all in your care.
How precious is your love!
Whether creatures of heaven or children of earth,
we all find refuge in the shadow of your wings.
We feast on the bounty of your estate, and drink from the stream of your
delights.
In you is the wellspring of Life, and in your light we become
enlightened.
Prolong your love for those who know you, and your justice for upright
hearts. |

Prayer for Peace by Donald V. Lents,
Independence, Missouri |
| |
O God, our Heavenly Parent, accept our thanks for the
privilege of continuing in your presence these few moments as our minds
turn to the need for peace in the world and in our local communities as
well as in ourselves.
Many prayers ascend to you daily with humble petitions for peace as the
central theme.
It has been our privilege on many occasions to observe and enjoy the
benefits of peace when humans have responded to you and worked together
to this end. Our desire to assist in this ongoing endeavor continues to
be our commitment
Many years ago your Son, in His Sermon on the Mount, spoke to many
people and gave that which, during the intervening years, became known
as the Beatitudes. Today, as we pray, we bring to mind a few of those
inspired expressions which help us to realize the privileges of our
responsibilities in the peace-making undertaking.
Lord:
Help us to be the poor in spirit.
Help us to be the meek.
Help us to be the merciful.
Help us to be the pure in heart.
Help us to be peacemakers.
Grant, O Lord, Thy arms of love to encircle all as we work together in
fulfilling our stewardship of peaceful existence. Accept of our thanks
for this privilege of talking with You as we reflect, as well as
anticipate, the joys and the satisfaction of peaceful relationships. We
share this prayer in the name of the Great Peacemaker, Jesus Christ.
Amen. |
