Invitation

We greet you in the name of the Prince of Peace who calls us to worship. Thank you for sharing the gift of presence with us. Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a different country.

Today we will remember the people of Micronesia in our prayers. An island group in the North Pacific Ocean, the Federated States of Micronesia, attained independence in 1986 under a Compact of Free Association with the United States. Present concerns include large-scale unemployment, over fishing, and over dependence on aid from the United States. Micronesian societies are made up of clan groupings, with descent traced through the mother. The head clan on each island can trace its lineage back to the island's original settlers. Most households include grandparents, cousins, children as well as adopted members.

We greet you in the name of God who is the giver of all. It is the creator of light and goodness that we worship and praise today as we pray for peace in our world.

Scripture Reading: Doctrine and Covenants 161:2b
Fulfill the purposes of the Temple by making its ministries manifest in your hearts. It was built from your sacrifices and searching over many generations. Let it stand as a towering symbol of a people who knew injustice and strife on the frontier and who now seek the peace of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

Prayer for Peace by Ms. Jimmie L. Radliff, Spring, Texas

  Almighty God of all,

Through the cleansing power
of Thy pardon and love,
we seek to serve Thee.
Help us strengthen our limbs, our wits,
our tools and temporal means
for this service.
In the face of hate and violence,
help us to be the smile of love
and the strength of meekness.
In the face of physical hunger
and helpless thirst for wisdom,
may we be tears of compassion,
providers of sustenance,
and the teachers of Thy laws.
In the face of hopelessness and apathy,
challenge us to joyful demonstration
of Kingdom living.

Through the power of the Prince of Peace, we pray. Amen.

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate.
O God of peace, we praise you and give thanks for your gentle, guiding calm in our lives. Forgive us of our sinful ways, and lead us into the path of peace
The People Pray in Silence
We give thanks for safety, food, shelter, and the support of loving friends and family. We pray that we may recognize those who do not have these necessities in their lives, and learn to share your goodness.
The People Pray in Silence
We ask your watch care and blessing for the people of the Micronesia. Continue to bless their activities to foster peace in all the world we ask.
The People Pray in Silence
We also ask your blessing and help for the concerns of people gathered here today. Hear us we pray.
The People Pray in Silence
Please use this space to pray for any current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
The People Pray in Silence
In the name of the Prince of Peace we pray. Amen.

Sending Forth
We conclude our service today with Meditation Music. Please leave quietly or feel free to remain in this place to pray or meditate in the quiet for as long as you may wish.

Let us hold our tongues when it would hurt another. Let us reserve judgement when our own selfish interests would prevail. Let us promote justice among our families, our communities, all nations, and peoples of the earth. The God of light and knowledge will bless our efforts. Let us become peacemakers.
