Gathering in Silence
Call to Prayer
Lighting of CandleInvitation |

Welcome today to this sacred
place, and we greet you in the name of the Prince of Peace. Each day in
this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace
in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a different country.
Today we will hold up the people of Mauritius in our prayers. Mauritius
is an island in the Indian Ocean, and gained it’s independence in 1968,
and became a republic in 1992. Its economy is based in sugar and
textiles.
God who has called us here to worship. May the light from our candle of
peace illumine our hearts, open our minds, and challenge us to new
avenues of peace as we worship together. |

If there are any wise and learned among
you, let them show it by good living—with humility, and with wisdom in
their actions. The wisdom from above… has purity as its essence. It
works for peace; it’s kind and considerate. It’s full of compassion and
shows itself by doing good. Nor is there any trace of partiality or
hypocrisy in it. Peacemakers, when they work for peace, sow the seeds
which will bear fruit in holiness. |

Prayer for Peace by Youth of the Midland
Congregation, Midland, Texas |
| |
Holy Spirit of God, please join us in the celebration of
peace within our Temple. We pray that other groups of people as they
gather together will feel your acceptance and love. Be with us as we
worship and learn within this symbol of peace.
Christ, we invite you to walk among the people of this world touching us
with love so that we may each have inner peace. May each person have
love and togetherness to create a new life of joy and gladness. May each
person have peace in their home. We also pray that people would desire
to reach out and share your love so that everyone would feel the peace
you bring.
Peaceful Father, we offer a prayer of peace for countries. We pray that
happiness could be in each person's heart and that there could be
harmony throughout the world. We pray that leaders everywhere will be
open to your guiding hand and lead your people in righteousness. Please
help us all in making good decisions involving the use of nature's
resources so we can all experience inner peace and harmony with nature.
May we all experience the miracle of peace. Shalom. Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
Creator of sunrises, mountains, and seas, we praise you
and come before you with gratitude in our hearts. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Keep us alert for ways to practice peace. Open our eyes to new solutions
for old problems. Forgive us when we become discouraged by daily
challenges rather than seeing them as opportunities. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
As we consider the years that the people of Mauritius have lived under
the yoke of oppression, we cry, “How long, God, must your creation live
without peace?” Bless the leaders of nations as they seek ways of peace,
we pray. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We pray for those gathered here today. Bless us with the assurance of
your presence, making lighter the burdens which we bear. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
In response to your gracious influence in our lives, we offer to learn
the ways of peace, and be your examples of peace in the places you would
have us go. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
|
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen. |
| |
| Sending Forth |
| |
We will conclude our service today with ministry of
music. We invite you to remain in the quiet of this place to pray or
meditate for as long as you may wish.
May the peace we claim for ourselves grow and spread throughout the
whole earth. May the God in whose name we have met, keep us to fulfill
our promises to be peaceful in our world. Go in peace. Amen. |
