| Gathering in Silence Call to Prayer Lighting of Candle Invitation |
||
| Welcome today, and it is good
to share this time of prayer with you in this sacred place. Each day in
this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace
in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a different country. Today we will remember the people of Italy in our prayers. Located in southern Europe, Italy became a nation-state in 1861. A democratic republic replaced the monarchy in 1946 and economic revival followed. Italy was a charter member of NATO and the European Economic Community. It has been at the forefront of European economic and political unification, joining the European Monetary Union in 1999. We greet you in God's name and call your attention to the lighted peace candle as a symbol of expectation. May the light sent from God shine in the darkness to show us the way to peace. |

| Scripture Reading: Romans 14:17-18 INT | ||
| For the kingdom of God is a matter not of eating and drinking, but of justice, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. If we all serve Christ this way, we will be pleasing to God and respected by our sisters and brothers. | ||

Prayer for Peace by Dianne Marszalek, Cheyenne, Wyoming |
||
| Our Heavenly Creator, We come today, thankful for the privilege of living on this beautiful planet. We pray for peace that we all might enjoy the beauties and bounties of this earth. We pray for peace between religions. For open minds and loving hearts that no more evil would be done to others in the name of religion. We pray for peace among different races. Let us look upon each other and see others the way in which you see us-- with love and understanding. We ask for peace among nations and countries. For leaders who can guide us toward tolerance and acceptance. And please help us to find peace within our families, for families are the foundation of our world. Lastly, allow us to find peace in ourselves. Help us to love and accept ourselves, as you love and accept us. We ask all these things, if it be thy will, in Jesus' Holy Name, Amen |

| Prayers of the People Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
||
| In peace, we pray to you, Lord God. We humbly ask your blessing upon all people in their daily life and work; for our families, friends, and neighbors, and for those who are alone. | ||
| The People Pray in Silence | ||
| We pray for the well being of this community, the nations, and especially the people of Italy this day. Grant them strength that they may continue to work for peace. | ||
| The People Pray in Silence | ||
| We remember the special needs and concerns of those gathered here, and we confess to you our shortcomings. In your compassion forgive us our sins, we ask. | ||
| The People Pray in Silence | ||
| Open our eyes for new ways to accomplish a just and proper use of your creation. We have exploited the land and its people. Teach us to work for justice, freedom, and peace, not for ourselves alone, but for all persons. | ||
| The People Pray in Silence | ||
| Please use this space to pray for any current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration. | ||
| The People Pray in Silence | ||
| Hear our prayers, Great God, and send your Holy Spirit to be with us as we seek to know you and do your will. Amen. | ||
| Sending Forth | ||
| We conclude our service today with Ministry of Music. We
invite you to remain in the quiet of this place to pray or meditate for
as long as you may wish. Now, go from here with the peace that only the Creator can give to be peacemakers in your own way in your part of the world. |
