| Gathering in Silence Call to Prayer Lighting of Candle Invitation |
||
| Welcome today to this sacred place as we
gather to worship. Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of
peace, we pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we
pray for a different country. Today we will remember the people of Chile in our prayers. Located in South America, Chileans have Latin America's longest tradition of political stability and civil liberty. Sound economic policies, maintained consistently since the 1980s, have contributed to steady growth and have helped secure the country's commitment to democratic and representative government. Chile has increasingly assumed regional and international leadership roles befitting its status as a stable, democratic nation. Chile's distinctive culture has survived the violence and repression of its recent history and is thriving once again thanks to a people noted for their warmth and resilience. Now, let us contemplate the symbol found in the candle of peace, for Christ is our peace. In Christ, God made all one and broke down the dividing wall between them to create out of us a new humanity, thereby making peace. So Christ came and proclaimed the good news; peace to you who were afar off, and peace to those nearby. |

| Scripture Reading: Doctrine and Covenants 150:7 | ||
| These are portentous times. The lives of many are being sacrificed unnecessarily to the gods of war, greed, and avarice. The land is being desecrated by the thoughtless waste of vital resources. You must obey my commandments and be in the forefront of those who would mediate this needless destruction while there is yet day. | ||

Prayer for Peace by Nancylee Pfeiffer, Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania |
||
| Our Creator, Some say that Peace is just a dream. A promise from God to the human family. We can keep that promise close to heart, or throw it to the wind. If all the dreamers of the world were focused to this cause, I'm sure our dream could change to Word, the same as the Son of God. With peace, and love, and charity, and an outstretched hand, humankind could live arm and arm , with Peace throughout all lands. Amen. |

| We thank you, God, for your many blessings; for friends, family, and those who give particular meaning to our lives. | ||
| The People Pray in Silence | ||
| We pray for Chile, its leaders and people. Be with them as they work to build a country where peace and justice for all are more than just words. | ||
| The People Pray in Silence | ||
| We pray for those who are oppressed by poverty, disease, exploitation, and prejudice. May all realize their worth as your children. We also pray for those who are so caught up in the desire to achieve success that they have lost the true meaning of life. | ||
| The People Pray in Silence | ||
| We confess to you our shortcomings. In your mercy, we ask forgiveness for our sins, things done and things left undone. Let us also pray now for the special concerns and needs of those who are gathered here this day. | ||
| The People Pray in Silence | ||
| Please use this space to pray for any current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration. | ||
| The People Pray in Silence | ||
