Call to Prayer
Lighting of CandleInvitation |

Welcome today to this sacred
place, and we greet you in the name of the Prince of Peace. Each day in
this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace
in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a different country.
Today we will remember the people of Yemen in our prayers. Yemen is
located in the Middle East. On the whole, the country is the most stable
it’s been in years, though the Iraq War and the government’s continuing
cooperation with the United States in the ‘War on Terror’ are proving
increasingly unpopular with most Yemenis. Yemen's modest oil reserves
provide most of the revenue, but it is the poorest country in the Middle
East.
As we light our candle, may its flame cause us to open our minds, and
challenge us to new avenues of peace as we worship together. |

peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. |

Prayer for Peace by Russell E. Waterman,
Independence, Missouri |

Our Father in Heaven,
Forgive us of all our sins. We confess all our faults and short comings
unto you that we may have the privilege of coming into your presence
with our prayers, hopes, and concerns about PEACE in our day and time.
We do so want to offer unto you an effectual fervent prayer in
righteousness that much might be accomplished from our being here and
bringing our prayers before you.
We pray for unity, peace, sympathetic understanding, closeness of hearts
and mind, a willingness to assist one another in all things, Father,
that we might be one as you and your Son, Jesus, are one.
Help us with our doubts and fears, so that it may be your good pleasure
to dwell continually in our homes, that those coming into our homes
might find that peace which passes all understanding, that peace that
comes from you.
We pray against those mountains that rise up in families now and then,
mountains of misunderstanding, hatred, laziness, jealousy, and anything
that would sow discord among the family.
In our families, dear Father, we ask for you to place your word, the
Scriptures and your strong angels to bring peace songs. Help us to have
a great desire to serve one another in charity, which is the pure love
of Jesus the Christ.
For it is in the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen. |
