Welcome today to this sacred place, and it
is good to share in prayer with you. Each day in this Temple dedicated
to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace in our world. In
addition, each day we pray for a different country.
Today we will remember the people of New Zealand in our prayers. New
Zealand is located in the South Pacific Ocean. The New Zealand
government has continued its pacifist, anti-nuclear policy, while
retaining troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. In recent years the government
has sought to address longstanding native Maori grievances. The arts
have flourished, and unemployment has remained at record lows.
Let us unite as one in our desires for peace. Let us pray as one as we
seek divine blessing on our thoughts. Let us work as one in our actions
of peace and justice for our time. Come, Lord Jesus, be our guide and
guard. |

Our Creator and Sustainer,
In quietness we come to pray and ask for your presence in our daily
world. We ask for peace, that we might find our way and make this a
better world. Our prayer is for love, friendship and care. Help us that
we might be able to help your children all over the world.
We give you thanks for all the blessings you have given us; a place of
worship, food, shelter, and clothing, family, friends, and loved ones.
It is with trust and belief that we ask for your guidance and love to
strengthen us. In your name we pray. Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
O God, Creator, Redeemer, and Friend, we thank you that
we may be together to worship freely, and praise you for your plentiful
goodness toward us. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We are all equal before you, but sometimes act in a manner that belies
that fact. Forgive us, we humbly pray, and guide us into paths of
justice and peace. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We pray for the people of New Zealand, seeking to live out their faith
in daily life. May they continue in their work to bring peace and
justice to the world. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We raise up before you our personal cares and concerns. Hear us we ask,
and fit a blessing to our needs, we pray. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
|
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We thank you for all signs of growing trust between nations, leaders of
nations, and leaders of religions. May we all learn how to be peaceful
among one another. In the name of the Prince of Peace we pray. Amen. |
