Welcome today to this sacred
place, and it is good to share in worship and prayer with you. Each day
in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for
peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a different
country.
Today we will hold up the people of Antigua and Barbuda in our prayers.
Islands between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, Antigua
and Barbuda became an independent state within the British Commonwealth
of Nations in 1981. Antigua is the wealthiest while Barbuda works to
balance resort development with protection of its wildlife. Some 3,000
refugees fleeing a volcanic eruption on nearby Montserrat have settled
in Antigua and Barbuda since 1995.
Let us unite as one in our desires for peace. Let us pray as one as we
seek Divine blessing on our thoughts. Let us work as one in our actions
of peace and justice for our time. Come, Lord Jesus, be our guide and
guard. |

| Scripture Reading: Isaiah 33:5-6, adapted |
| |
The Lord is exalted and dwells on high. You
will fill Zion with justice and righteousness. You will be the sure
foundation for our times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and
knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure. |

Prayer for Peace by Barbara Howard,
Independence, Missouri |
| |
God of all the earth and all the earth's peoples move in
us to pray for peace.
May the spirit of reconciliation like flood waters fill the places of
political power.
May the healing waters of God's love baptize the hearts of warring
people.
May God use us to shatter walls of fear and prejudice.
May we build, rather than destroy.
Let God be our source of strength rather than relying on arms.
May we arm ourselves with confidence in God's creative power to move us
from terror to trust.
May we be God's peacemakers. |

O God, Creator, Redeemer, and Friend, we thank you that
we may be together to worship and praise you for your plentiful goodness
toward us. |
| The People Pray in Silence |

justice to the world. |
| The People Pray in Silence |

We raise up before you our personal cares and concerns. Hear us, we ask,
and fit a blessing to our needs, we pray. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any

that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
|
| The People Pray in Silence |

We thank you for all signs of growing trust between nations, leaders of
nations, and leaders of religions. May we all learn peace. In the name
of the Prince of Peace we pray. Amen. |
