Invitation

Welcome today to this sacred place, and we are blessed by your prayer support. Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a different country.

Today we will hold up the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in our prayers. Islands located in the Caribbean Sea, Saint Vincent was ceded to Great Britain in 1783. Autonomy was granted in 1969, and independence in 1979. Two hydroelectric plants helps power St. Vincent's diversifying economy, dependent in part on exports of bananas and arrowroot, valuable as a starch in carbonless copy paper. The Grenadines are a multitude of tiny islands trailing southward like a comet's tail. Some of the Grenadine islands, Bequia in particular, have long been reliant upon the sea for a living; boat building, both full-scale and models, is an island art form.

Blessed is the name of our God who is mindful of this people as we worship the Prince of Peace in faith and joy.

Scripture Reading:
And how blessed are they! For they did publish peace; they did publish good tidings of good; and they did declare unto the people that the Lord reigneth.—Mosiah 11:207 Book of Mormon

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.—James 3:17 IV

Prayer for Peace by Miriam Mann, North Platte, Nebraska

Divine and gracious Father, encourage us to be humble and receptive to the Holy Spirit this day. We thank you for all gifts, and especially for the gift of your Son. He is our forgiveness and salvation. We claim His promises for greater understanding and service in His kingdom. Let your glory shine on us now.

We pray for the spiritual well-being of others and ourselves. Enable us to bear one another’s burdens and to live in peace. You know our desires and needs. Help each one of us to “fight the good fight of faith, and to lay hold on eternal life.’ Grant Christ’s meekness and lowliness of heart to us that we may dwell with you forever. In Jesus worthy name, we ask these things. Amen.

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate.
We thank you, God, for all the blessings of this life. We thank you for our friends, our family, our nation, and our church.
The People Pray in Silence
We pray for the just and equitable use of the resources of your earth. May all humanity exercise care in the use of your creation. Guide us that we may be wise stewards over all that we touch.
The People Pray in Silence
In your compassion forgive us our sins of commission, or our sins of omission we humbly ask.
The People Pray in Silence
We pray for the nations of the world. In particular on this day we pray for the nation and the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. May they know peace.
The People Pray in Silence
We pray for all those who are oppressed by poverty, disease, exploitation, prejudice, and for those who are in any way denied their full worth as your children.
The People Pray in Silence
Let us pray now for the special concerns and needs of those gathered here this day.
The People Pray in Silence
Please use this space to pray for any current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
The People Pray in Silence
Hear our prayer, O God. Today we offer ourselves as instruments of your peace. In the name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace we pray. Amen.

Sending Forth
We conclude our service today with ministry of music. We invite you to remain in the quiet of this place to pray or meditate for as long as you may wish.

May the God of peace, of glory, and righteousness, keep us to fulfill our desires to be peacemakers in the world. Amen.
