Thank you for coming to share
in this service of prayer for peace. Each day in this sacred place, we
pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a
different country.
Today we will hold up the people of Myanmar in our prayers. Myanmar is
located in Southeastern Asia. Known as Burma for centuries, the country
became a province of British India, then a British Crown colony until
1945. After World War II, the Allies granted independence by a pact in
1948. It is bordered by India and China on the north with Laos and
Thailand on the southeast and the Andaman Sea on the southwest. Myanmar
is an agricultural country producing a number of crops as well as
silver, lead, zinc, timber and textiles. Myanmar's rich and thrilling
culture with dozens of languages and peoples - is a natural tourism
drawcard with bustling modern cities, emerging beach destinations and
more temples than tourists, but the government is not really open to
tourism and forbids it in some areas because of terrorism and
hostilities.
Christ, whose presence is like daybreak and shines in the darkness of
all our pain and fear, calls us to worship. May the light of Christ fill
our hearts this day. |

God is calling for a prophetic community to
emerge, drawn from the nations of the world, that is characterized by
uncommon devotion to the compassion and peace of God revealed in Jesus
Christ. Through divine grace and wisdom, this faith community has been
given abundant gifts, resources, and opportunities to equip it to become
such a people. Chief among these is the power of community in Christ
expressed locally in distinctive fashions while upholding a unity of
vision, foundational beliefs, and mission throughout the world. |

Our Father in Heaven, We lift our hearts to you in
prayer. Help us to understand your will, that we may become a peaceful
people throughout Your world. In Your word we are told "Blessed are the
peacemakers." Lord, help us to become peacemakers—improve our skills in
making peace on earth. We want to have a stable and loving home life, so
there will be peace in our hearts, our churches, and our communities.
We say, "Lord, let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me." We
want to reach out to others. Help us to reach out to others in
reconciliation and follow the example of Thy Son.
We need help to see and appreciate the worth of humanity throughout the
world. We accept our Lord as our example of peace.
Give us guidance and empowerment so that we do what we can to bring
peace into the world.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
God of all the earth and those who dwell thereon, we
give you praise and honor for your goodness and mercy to all creation. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We pray for courage to be your presence in actions of justice,
compassion, tenderness, and love. And we ask for divine forgiveness when
we have not been compassionate or loving or just. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Hear us, O God, as we pray for others who are victims of abuse, neglect,
hatred, and illness. May your light fill all the world. Help us not to
abuse, neglect, hate, or cause illness so that your peace might reign
over all. We thank you, God, that in the midst of incredible
difficulties, courage and determination through the Holy Spirit sustain
those who suffer. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
At this time we pray for the people and the leaders of Myanmar. Fit a
blessing to their need and guide them into peaceful pursuits, we humbly
ask. |

We lift our hearts and minds and voices in
