Call to Prayer
Lighting of CandleInvitation |
| |
Welcome today to this sacred
place. Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we
pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a
different country.
Today we will hold up the people of Montenegro in our prayers. Tiny
Montenegro's Mediterranean coastline plays at the feet of Balkan
mountains. Its walled towns and mixture of Orthodox and Catholic
churches and its cultural blend of Montenegrin, Serb, Bosniak, Albanian
and Croatian have survived the victimization of history but are breezing
in to the future.
May the lighted candle represent our oneness in spirit as we present
ourselves to God this day. |

| Scripture Reading: Matthew 11:30 IV |
| |
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for
I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls;
for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. |

Prayer for Peace by Patricia C. Pfann,
Onalaska, Wisconsin |

I pray a prayer for peace dear Lord;
Peace for the fearful,
Peace for the troubled,
Peace for the downtrodden,
Peace for the war torn,
Peace for the wounded.
I pray a prayer for peace dear Lord;
Peace for the forgotten,
Peace for the abandoned,
Peace for the homeless,
Peace for the hungry,
Peace for the unwanted.
I pray a prayer for peace dear Lord;
Peace for the hopeless,
Peace for the ignored,
Peace for the abused,
Peace for the sad,
Peace for the ill.
I pray a prayer for peace dear Lord;
Peace for the powerful,
Peace for the successful,
Peace for the careful,
Peace for the happy,
Peace for the loved.
I pray a prayer for peace dear Lord;
Peace for the children,
Peace for the world.
I pray a prayer for peace dear Lord.
In the name of thy son Jesus Christ we pray. Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
God of all persons, we praise you and worship you, and
give thanks for our bountiful blessings. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We confess our shortcomings, and ask your forgiveness for those times we
have not been the persons you created us to be. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We remember the lonely, the oppressed, the victims of greed, and those
who have not. Help us be aware of times we can share our bounty, whether
it is a kind word or material wealth. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We remember today our brothers and sisters in Montenegro. May they use
their resources to further the cause of peace in our world. May all
people everywhere have the light of your Spirit to illumine the way of
love and peace. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We hold up before you the concerns of people
gathered here this day. Hear our prayer, O God, as today we offer
ourselves to be instruments of your peace in our families, our city, our
nation, and our world. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
|
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
In the name of the Prince of Peace, we pray. Amen. |
| |
| Sending Forth |
| |
We will conclude our service for today with Meditation
Music. We invite you to leave quietly or remain in the quiet of this
place to pray or meditate for as long as you may wish.
As we have been called by the Spirit of God, and endowed by the power of
God, let us go from this place to be makers of peace. Amen. |
