Thank you for coming to share
in this service of prayer for peace. Each day in this sacred place,
dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace in our
world. In addition, each day we pray for a different country.
Today we will hold up the people of Liechtenstein in our prayers.
Located in central Europe, the Principality of Liechtenstein was
established within the Holy Roman Empire in 1719; it became a sovereign
state in 1806. Because of liberal tax policies and banking laws, this
satellite of Switzerland counts more companies than citizens.
Prosperous, with no public debt, Liechtenstein has one of the world's
highest living standards. Only as recently as 1984 were women allowed to
vote in national elections.
Christ, whose presence is like daybreak and shines in the darkness of
all our pain and fear, calls us to worship. May the light of Christ fill
our hearts this day. |

But I tell you who hear me: Love your
enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray
for those who mistreat you. Love your enemies, do good to them, and lend
to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be
great. You’ll rightly be called children of the Most High, since God is
good even to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be compassionate, as your
loving God is compassionate. |

Prayer for Peace by Ancil Burroughs, Cheyenne,

O, our God, how great you are for the greatness of your
love and power!
As we come to you in the beauty of your holiness, giving all honor and
all glory to your high and holy name, we thank you for your gracious
love and for your comfort and peace upon us. You are a God of love. We
thank you for all things in the heavens above and upon your earth. O,
our God, how great you are!
God of Mercy and Compassion, who loves so much! Your mercy and
compassion are great upon us. You bless us and our rejoicing is your
rejoicing. Because of your compassion, you heal us and make us whole.
You do great things for us. You wept over your world in its wickedness.
We praise and glory in your holiness. We will praise you and give all
glory unto you.
We give honor to you, our Father and our Lord, for you are worthy. You
made us in your likeness and image. You made us caretakers of your
earth. We are to make it beautiful, but we have desecrated the earth.
Yet we hear your plea. "O, my people! Make the earth beautiful as I
created it. My glory is upon all things. Serve me in the beauty of
holiness!" O, our God, how great you are!
Help us to see your greatness in the beautiful things you have created,
things you have placed upon this earth to please our eyes and to gladden
our hearts. Help us to see the workmanship of your hands as we gaze, for
you made all things perfect. Help us see great beauty, and in that
beauty see your glory manifest in all things. We acknowledge you, our
God, in all things. Help us walk and talk to you. You tell us you have
greater blessings for us, greater than we have yet received, "for I am
your God forever; I change not--you will find me the same." Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
God of all the earth and those who dwell thereon, we
give you praise and honor for your goodness and mercy to all creation. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We pray for courage to be your presence in actions of justice,
compassion, tenderness, and love. And we ask for divine forgiveness when
we have not been compassionate or loving or just. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Hear us, O God, as we pray for others who are victims of abuse, neglect,
hatred, and illness. May your light fill all the world. Help us not to
abuse, neglect, hate, or cause illness so that your peace might reign
over all. We thank you, God, that in the midst of incredible
difficulties, courage and determination through the Holy Spirit sustain
those who suffer. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
At this time we pray for the people and the leaders of Liechtenstein.
Fit a blessing to their needs and guide them into peaceful pursuits, we
humbly ask. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We lift our hearts and minds and voices in
honor, praise, and glory to you, Great God of Peace. At this time, hear
our personal burdens and petitions, we pray. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
|
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
To you, Great God, we give the honor and the praise and the glory. Amen. |
