Call to Prayer

We greet you in the name of the
God who has called us to peace. Thank you for your gift of presence.
Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to
God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a
different country.
Today we will hold up the indigenous peoples of South America. Among
others, this includes the Aymara, Inca, Mayan, Tarahumara, Aztec, J’vara,
Araucano, and Guaran’ peoples. The indigenous people of our world were
the first inhabitants of the lands wherever they may reside. Many of
them were peaceful, loving people living in harmony with the land and
nature. But, too often they were pushed aside and their rights trampled
underfoot to make way for "civilization." They work hard to retain their
culture and their way of life in an ever-changing world. We remember
them today and lift them to you, God, for the light of your healing.
We are here to pray for understanding of how to help bring peace to our
world. |

| Scripture Reading: Doctrine and Covenants
161:3a-c |
| |
Open your hearts and feel the yearnings of
your bothers and sisters who are lonely, despised, fearful, neglected,
unloved. Reach out in understanding, clasp their hands, and invite all
to share in the blessings of community created in the name of the One
who suffered on behalf of all.
Do not be fearful of one another. Respect each life journey, even in its
brokenness and uncertainty, for each person has walked along at times.
Be ready to listen and slow to criticize, lest judgments be unrighteous
and unredemptive.
Be patient with one another, for creating sacred community is arduous,
and even painful. But it is to loving community such as this that each
is called. Be courageous and visionary, believing in the power of just a
few vibrant witnesses to transform the world. Be assured that love will
overcome the voices of fear, division, and deceit. |

God of All, Creator of order, beauty, and purpose
We praise Thee and thank Thee
For the gift of life, and for its
Continual growth and renewal.
We would learn and cultivate
The Ways of Peace in our individual lives,
In our family and community relationships,
With the world arena in which we live,
And, ultimately, also, with Thee.
Forgive us for our self-created chaos,
Assist us to restore order and beauty
To destroyed and contaminated places.
Lead us into ways of peace,
Tolerance and understanding
In all our relationships.
Help us to discipline ourselves
In harmony with Thy purposes
That we may find peace within
And be empowered to work for Peace
Among all whom our lives touch.
We ask in the name of Jesus, the Christ. Amen |

| Sending Forth |

We conclude our service today with Ministry of Music. We
invite you to remain in the quiet of this place to pray or meditate for
as long as you may wish.
It is our faith that God is the creator of all people and loves each
person and each nation without qualification. May we see the face of
Jesus Christ in all of God's children. May God's grace touch each of us
with a full measure of love and may our lives and voices be a witness to
that divine Presence. |
