Welcome today to this time of
prayer for peace. Each day in the Temple, dedicated to the pursuit of
peace, we pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we
usually pray for a different country.
But today we will hold up the Indigenous People of Europe. Among others,
this includes the Basque, Romany, Saami, Livonian, and Chukchi peoples.
They were the first inhabitants of Europe wherever they may reside. Very
often they were driven from their homes to make way for civilization.
Lives were shattered and cultures were lost. We remember them today and
hold them to heaven for God’s healing.
We come to this sacred place today to consider the needs of the world,
our country, communities and homes. Be still and let the Spirit of Peace
envelop your mind as you worship with us. Thank you for your presence. |

| Scripture Reading: Doctrine and Covenants 85:38c |
| |
Above all things, cloth yourselves with the
bonds of charity, as with a mantle, which is a bond of perfectness and
peace; pray always, that you may not faint until I come; behold, and lo,
I will come quickly, and receive you unto myself. |

Prayer for Peace by Evelyn Masek, Kirtland,

Almighty God,
You who created us of one blood color within and many skin colors
without – we come in praise and appreciation of our sameness and also of
our differences. We know your love for each of us is the same as your
love for all of us.
We long for peace and harmony in our lives but there are so many things
that separate us: race, religion, wealth, sin, poverty, sickness. We
need your help that we might grow in the kind of love that causes us to
practice the art of not only listening but hearing each other. To listen
with our hearts and not just our ears. To give and receive respect. To
be thoughtful and caring.
Teach us to hurt when others hurt and rejoice when they rejoice. It is
only in the sharing that we will grow in understanding. Peace at home
and throughout the world revolves around understanding and mutual
respect.
We desire to plant the seeds of peace by our words and deeds so that one
day we may realize a bountiful harvest of goodness and earthly love.
We thank you for blessing us with heavenly love that promises us a place
provided for us – a place of peace that passes all human understanding.
Make us instruments of that peace, we pray, that we might not only talk
about your kingdom, but be your kingdom in this place.
We pray in the name of your son, Jesus, the Prince of Peace, Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
We give thanks to you, Lord God, and praise your mighty
works of peace. We thank you for our many blessings this day and pray
that your Holy Spirit will be with us as we seek to know and do your
will. |

We confess to you our shortcomings. In your compassion forgive us our
sins, known and unknown, things done and left undone. We pray for the
special needs of those here gathered. Guide us, we humbly ask. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We pray for the Indigenous Peoples of Europe. Be with them as they
struggle to reconcile themselves with the modern world and the ways of
the people who inhabit the land. Help us all to embrace the diversity
offered to us by all peoples. Help us to learn ways of peaceful
existence with each other. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We pray for all people in their daily life and work: for our families,
friends, and neighbors, and for those who are alone. We pray for peace
and unity among the leaders of religions and nations and for all who
work for justice, freedom, and peace. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.

In the name of the Prince of Peace, we pray. Amen |

| Sending Forth |
| |
While our service is finished for today, we invite you
to remain in the quiet of this place and pray or meditate for as long as
you may wish.
We will go forth and serve, O God. Send us to bring your peace and
healing touch. We go now in your name. Amen. |
