Welcome today to this sacred
place. Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we
pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a
different country.
Today we will hold up the people of Canada in our prayers. Located in
North America, Canada is a land of vast distances and rich natural
resources. Economically and technologically the nation has developed in
parallel with the US, its neighbor to the south across an unfortified
border Canada's paramount political problem is meeting public demands
for quality improvements in health care and education services after a
decade of budget cuts. Among the foundations of Canada's cultural
identity are the traditions of its native peoples. Arguably the
country's most distinctive art is that of the Inuit of the north,
particularly their stone and bone sculptures and carvings.
We are here to help bring peace to our world. Thank you for sharing your
gift of presence in this time of prayer. |

For the kingdom of God is a matter not of
eating and drinking, but of justice, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
If we all serve Christ this way, we will be pleasing to God and
respected by our sisters and brothers. |

Prayer for Peace by Bruce Lindgren,
Independence, Missouri |

O God of Peace, we gather together today to share our
concerns for peace in the world you have created. We have been richly
blessed by your kind and loving Spirit, and we know that we have
possessions and comforts that are beyond the imagining of many of the
people in your world. At the same time we are restless, knowing that
true peace and true comfort come only from you.
Help us, O God, to hear the cries of the unfortunate and the oppressed.
May we seek to understand them as your son, Jesus, would understand
them. Help us to understand the lack of peace is within ourselves and
within those we meet. Help us to bring peace to each other. Help us to
understand those who live in fear. Help us to find ways to share your
peace with those who are far from us as well as those who are close by.
Teach us, O God, to be instruments of your peace. Encourage us to be
close to each other and closer to you. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
Great God of all nations, races, and creeds, we praise
you. You are our refuge in times of trial and our joy in times of
celebration. We thank you and praise you. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Heal our brokenness, forgive our sins, and lead us into paths of peace,
we humbly pray. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
This day we especially pray for your blessings on the people and the
nation of Canada. May they know peace within their own country as well
as with their world neighbors. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We would also remember those who hunger and thirst for food, knowledge,
friends, shelter, or clothing. Open our hearts so we will be part of the
solution, not the cause of hurt in our world. Teach us of justice, we
pray. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
|
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
May your truth radiate from this place as we seek to be your people of
peace in the world.
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen. |

| Sending Forth |

We conclude our service today with ministry of music. We
invite you to remain in the quiet of this place to pray or meditate for
as long as you may wish.
Seek peace, and pursue it as you leave this place, and the God of peace
will direct you. Go in peace and teach others of that peace. Amen. |
