Welcome today to this sacred place. Thank you for
coming to pray with us today.
Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to
God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a
different country.
Today we will hold up the people of Qatar in our prayers. Located in the
Middle East, Qatar transformed itself from a poor British protectorate
noted mainly for pearling into an independent state with significant oil
and natural gas revenues. Oil and natural gas revenues enable Qatar to
have a per capita income not far below the leading industrial countries
of Western Europe. Qatar is primarily a Bedouin culture, and the tribal
ethos is still strong in modern society.
Welcome to this special time for worship and prayer. It is good to meet
in the name of the Prince of Peace who came to show us the way to a
better life. God will bless us with his presence. |

Praise Our God, all you nations,
extol God, all you mighty ones.
For God’s love toward us is great,
God’s faithfulness, eternal.
Alleluia! |

Prayer for Peace by Ken Simpson, Lee's Summit,
Missouri |

God of love and peace, hear us once again as we pray for
conditions for which we long, and yet of which we understand so little.
As we attempt to focus on that which we have come to understand as your
divine call to us, there wells up within us a desire to more
unreservedly join you in the quest for realization of these gifts in our
world. We stand in awe as we contemplate your many acts of love and
forgiveness that somehow enable us to seek your presence. In this moment
we come to sense even more fully our need to be forgiven, and to commit
ourselves more completely to your call.
God of love and peace, we have experienced the presence of your peace as
your love and forgiveness have permeated our persons and our gatherings.
We have known little true peace, yet enough to cause us to hunger and
thirst for its fuller realization in our lives, our families, our
nations, our world.
You have enabled us to understand that the absence of peace does not
mean you are unwilling to have peace reign over all your creation, but
rather that we have proven unwilling and unworthy to have your peace
abide in our presence.
God of love and peace, cleanse us that we may receive your peace and go
forth as your ambassadors of love, emissaries of peace. In Christ Jesus
name, our Lord we pray. Amen. |

Prayers of the People
Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the
moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. |
| |
We praise you, God of all nations, for your mercy is
vast, and your greatness beyond our comprehension. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
In peace we pray to you, Lord God, and dare to ask your blessing for all
people in their daily life and work; for our families, friends, and
neighbors, and for those who are alone. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We remember, and ask your guidance, for all who sorrow, fear, or have
special needs. May we follow your example and minister in your stead. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Grant your wisdom as we labor for peace. May success be realized. We
especially ask your blessing on the people of Qatar. We pray that they
shall continue to follow in the way of peace. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We confess our shortcomings. Forgive us, we
pray, and may we go from here strengthened in body and mind for the task
before us to work for justice, and be your peacemakers in our world. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
We remember the concerns and needs of those
gathered here. Hear us, we pray. |
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Please use this space to pray for any
current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world
that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration.
|
| The People Pray in Silence |
| |
Lord, hear our prayers, and send your Holy Spirit to be with us as we
seek to know and do your will. Amen. |

| Sending Forth |
| |
We conclude our service today with Ministry of Music. We
invite you to remain in the quiet of this place and pray or meditate for
as long as you may wish.
As we have worshiped, praying for the peace that only God can give, let
us now go forth in the name of the One who teaches us peace, and become
makers of peace in our homes and communities. Amen. |
