[1240] April 15, 1994 Administration of the Lord's Supper
Whereas, Through its discussion and action on Item G-2, Sacrament of the
Lord's Supper, as amended, the World Conference of 1994 has expressed its
support for the principle of extending the Lord's Supper to all Christians; and
Whereas, There are a variety of issues which require careful interpretation
before such a change in our tradition can be properly communicated and
administered; therefore, be it
Resolved, That WCR 91 be rescinded; and be it further
Resolved, That the First Presidency develop guidelines for the administration
of the sacrament of the Lord's Supper; and be it further
Resolved, That resources on the theology and practice of the sacraments be
prepared for discussion among the members of the church; and be it further
Resolved, That this resolution supersedes the action of the 1994 World
Conference on Item G-2, as amended.
[1241] April 15, 1994 Older Adult Ministries
Whereas, The largest membership age group in the RLDS Church is fifty years
and older; and
Whereas, Spiritual development is a life-long concern for each human being;
and
Whereas, Major Christian denominations are creating special ministries for
older adults within their national church organizations; therefore, be it
Resolved, That the World Conference establish a World Church Committee on
Ministry for Older Adults; and be it further
Resolved, That said committee report back to the 1996 World Conference with a
plan of action and recommendations regarding programs and resources for ministry
to and by older adults.
[1242] April 15, 1994 Youth Representation at Conference
Whereas, Many youth are leaving the church; and
Whereas, The church values the presence and contributions of youth; and
Whereas, All World Conference delegates are here to represent the church
members of their geographical area; and
Whereas, The youth are not adequately represented at the World Conferences;
therefore, be it
Resolved, That the Forefront Ministries Advisory Council study a way or ways
to give the youth representation at upcoming World Conferences; and be it
further
Resolved, That the council report and submit a resolution, if needed, about
youth representation at the 1996 World Conference.
