 Canada West Mission Center—Peace Be with You

Each Sunday we are invited to “share equally” with Mission Tithes for local and world ministries. These stories are provided to keep us in touch with how your contributions to Mission Tithes are spreading the peace of Jesus Christ.  

This story, Peace Be with You, takes us to the Canada West Mission Center, part of Apostle Mary Jacks Dynes’ Canada/North Central USA Mission Field. In August 2007 the Canada West Mission Center hosted a Young Family Camp at the Hills of Peace campground in rural Alberta. Fourteen adults and fourteen children from Saskatchewan and Alberta met for a weekend of intergenerational classes, worship, fun, and games. Many areas of the mission center were represented – from established congregations, to non-resident members, as well as friends of the church. Susan Naylor, of Independence, Missouri, brought huge ministry to each one present.

The peacefulness and solitude of the Hills of Peace campground provided the perfect setting. The weekend went so well that we expect our numbers will double. Besides the amazing activities and fun, we scheduled five baptisms. Christ's message of love and peace is truly lived out in community in activities like Young Family Camp. We left knowing that Christ’s peace and love is lived out in the lives of those beyond the camp boundaries each day. Your contributions to World Ministries Mission Tithes provide field ministers and ministry such as the Young Family Camp at the Hills of Peace campground. C. Blessing on Our Offering

From John 20:19 – 20 (NRSV), we read: When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

Sharing our Mission Tithes equally between local and world ministries allows others to share the witness of Christ. Let us share in the prayer of blessing for our offering.
