A. Disciples’ Generous Response Story: World

Dominican Republic—Love Like Jesus

Each Sunday we are invited to “share equally” with Mission Tithes for local and world ministries. These stories are provided to keep us in touch with how your contributions to Mission Tithes are spreading the peace of Jesus Christ.

This story, Love Like Jesus, takes us to the Dominican Republic in Apostle Rick Maupin’s Caribbean, Mexico, and Texas Mission Field. Rick relates: To effectively promote the mission of the church requires a cadre of leaders who are committed, trained, and prepared to love like Jesus. It is easy for those of us who live in first-world countries to forget the struggles some of our leaders in other parts of the world have to overcome. There are times and places where accessing appropriate ministerial training is difficult and an obstacle. In the Dominican Republic we have over 1,200 members. To serve those members we are fortunate to have three full-time indigenous leaders. Those three leaders are committed, and because of your World Ministry Mission Tithes they are receiving excellent ministerial training. Recently one of those leaders, Angela Ramirez Hernandez, graduated from a university in Santo Domingo with a degree in ministerial leadership. In the very near future our other two full-time leaders, Manuel Ramos and Arturo Valentin, will also be graduating from this same university. Your generosity has given the church the opportunity to employ quality staff and provide them with education and training. Thank you for responding faithfully by sharing so very generously.—Rick Maupin, apostle, Caribbean, Mexico and Texas mission field

B. Disciples’ Generous Response Story: Local

What is happening to you or in your congregation as a result of giving to local ministries through Mission Tithes? Share those experiences as part of your congregation’s Disciples’ Generous Response.

C. Blessing on Our Offering

From John 14: 17 (NRSV) we read: This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you.

Sharing our Mission Tithes equally between local and world ministries allows others to share the peace of Jesus Christ. Let us share in the prayer of blessing for our offering.
