CELEBRATIONS ABOUND!

Joseph Smith III’s Liberty Hall hosted their annual Christmas Tea on Sunday, December 13 in Lamoni, Iowa.  The pump organ was pressed into service, carols were sung, and refreshments were served.  The beautifully restored home served as a time machine to transport people back 110 years to a time when Liberty Hall was at the center of the community’s social and religious life.

The highly popular event drew visitors from as far away as Nauvoo, Illinois and Independence, Missouri.  Community of Christ Historic Sites depend heavily on volunteers and this event was no exception.  It was planned by volunteer Martha McKain, who serves as the site coordinator, and staffed by a group of equally dedicated and committed volunteers.

International Headquarters celebrated many memories with Gail Mengel honoring her retirement.

International Headquarters in Independence celebrated with holiday treats, music, and fellowship!

Last Sunday, December 20, was the 2009 Kirtland Temple Hymn Sing. It was quite a success with about 200 in attendance.  Pictured are members of the Kirtland Congregation who shared music ministry as a quartet consisting of Dan Eckart, Sandy Zimmer, Sharon Davies, and Steve Davidson.  They sang two unique Community of Christ Christmas hymns, Silvery Star and Joseph, Kind Joseph. Whitney Davidson offered the invocation and Bruce Crockett proved an energetic song leader for the service.
