NEW FACES AT INTERNATIONAL HEADQUARTERS

Welcome Van Wilson and Kimberly Caviness!

Van is working with the World Conference Worship Team, and is located in the Integrated Formation Ministries suite (where he really loves the copier).

Kimberly will be working with Ministerial Reimbursements and Accounts Payable on the Fiscal Team and providing Asset Acquisition and Inventory Management services for the Technology Support Team.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Fifty years ago tomorrow, the Auditorium Organ was heard for the first time by about 7,000 people (according to The Kansas City Star). Catherine Crozier played the inaugural recital, beginning a tradition of fine arts events as outreach into the community that has continued in various formats to the present.

Tomorrow—November 6, 2009—at 8:00 p.m.
Jan Kraybill will be recreating that inaugural recital in celebration of the organ’s 50th birthday.

You are invited to come and support Jan and share in this celebration of an instrument that has impacted the church significantly through the last 50 years…through music ministry provided at World Church events…inspiring young musicians to study and provide music ministry in their congregations…and helping many in the broader community understand more about Community of Christ and our message and mission.

ANOTHER WAY TO HELP

Live UnitedThe annual pledge campaign for the United Way of Greater Kansas City is currently under way. If you are interested in making a donation, forms are available in the Human Resource Ministries office. There are a couple of different ways you can donate:   payroll deduction or direct gift. Contact Heather Frey if you have any questions.

NEW EXHIBIT

Monday, November 16, a special Nativity Exhibit of more than 200 international sets opens in the Temple Shalom Place and World Plaza corridor.

The nativities were collected by Diane Houk (pictured at right) and her husband of Independence, Missouri, from around the world (Africa, Europe, South America, the Middle East and more).

This is a significant opportunity to prepare for Advent and Christmas as expressed by our global family.

FAMILIAR BOOK – NEW LOOK

This year the Daily Bread includes many new features like a daily spiritual practice and peace covenant in addition to the uplifting stores from members and friends all over the world.

WORLD CONFERENCE IS COMING!

Plans are in full-swing for the 2010 World Conference. The 2010 World Conference will be a milestone as we celebrate the sesquicentennial anniversary of the church’s 1860 reorganization. A number of activities and interactions are planned throughout the week to help us better understand our history in places near and far.

World Conference participants can also roll up their sleeves and actively make a difference. Community of Christ and the Boys and Girls Club have partnered together Independence, Missouri, at Hawthorne Place for a successful JAM (Jesus and Me) program. The program is ready to expand to a new location and the proposed space is in need of an extreme makeover!

Those helping with the World Conference service project should come ready to build, paint, scrape, sweep, landscape, and more to create this safe place for kids to come and experience their inestimable worth in the eyes of God.

WHO’S WHO?? is taking a break. Watch for this column in your next NewsPEACE issue.
