2008 Community of Christ International Peace Award Recipient Announced
The
2008 Community of Christ International Peace Award will be presented to an
entire “signal community” that actively seeks to embody peacemaking. Koinonia,
ancient Greek for “loving fellowship/community,” is the name of the intentional
Christian farm community in Americus, Georgia.
Koinonia’s director Bren Dubay and chaplain Norris Harris will accept the
award on behalf of Koinonia at the opening of the Peace Colloquy on October 3,
at 7:30 p.m. in the Community of Christ Temple, Independence, Missouri, USA. The
ceremony will be webcast live in English, French, and Spanish at
www.CofChrist.org.

The Power of One…
Making a difference for Community of Christ, specifically here at IHQ, is
what our valued Volunteers do best! We spent a week celebrating their
commitment, April 28-May 2, in honor of National Volunteer Month. Each day
a volunteer came in to work, they received a different gift. One of the
gifts was a special portfolio imprinted with the Temple image and the phrase,
“The Power of One." We also had a drawing each day for a restaurant gift
card! Our winners of the gift cards are…
- Norma Byrn -- Daily Prayer for Peace
- Barry Boren -- Receptionist
- Mary Hancock -- Ikebana
- Dorris Mangum -- Museum Docent
- Jan Trewhitt -- Library
Congratulations! Thanks go out to all of our volunteers for all you do- we
couldn’t do it without you!
