A Special Daily Prayer for Peace
Monday, August 13, marks the 5,000th Daily
Prayer for Peace. Join in this special worship in the Temple Sanctuary at 1:00
p.m. and each day that you are in Independence; or pause each day, wherever you
are, for a moment of silent prayer and know that you are raising your voice in
unison with others around the world. A reception to celebrate this milestone
will follow.
Welcome to New Staff
Please welcome Wim van Klinken to
IHQ. Wim begins orientation for his new role as Director of IHQ on Monday,
August 13. You can find Wim at room 2134, next to the Joint Council Room. His
phone extension is 3070 and Jennifer Wright is providing administrative
support. Stassi Cramm will remain Director of IHQ during Wim's orientation,
which is scheduled to be complete by October 1.
There will be a "meet and greet" for Wim in the Continents
Room on Thursday, August 16 at 1:30pm following the Daily Prayer for Peace. We
hope everyone will take a few moments from their busy day to worship in the
Daily Prayer for Peace and welcome Wim to IHQ.
Looking Ahead to Fall Team Meetings
John Pinkerton is arranging team meetings with IHQ teams
that will work with Wim van Klinken after October 1. During these meetings you
will be able to meet Wim and talk specifically about your team. Agenda items
will include a review and update, as needed, of the team charter, evaluation of
how the team is working including progress and current needs, and an opportunity
for team members to ask questions about IHQ. Given the number of teams, these
meetings will be spread over several weeks.

Preaching Series
A preaching series began this past week at the Stone
Church. The First Presidency, Apostle Stassi Cramm, and Seventy John Wight will
give commentary on the inspired document now known as Section 163. As employees
of International Headquarters, we play an integral part in the process of
shaping the church’s vision, message, and mission of promoting the Peace of
Christ. Join in fellowship with others from across the Greater Kansas City
Metro area on:

Save these dates for upcoming E-Group meetings this fall.

World Church Leadership Support meets at 8:30 a.m.;
Ministry Support Specialists meet at 2:00 p.m. and Service Support Specialists
meet at 3:30 p.m. All meetings are currently scheduled for the Continents
Room. IHQ staff residing outside the Independence area will be included through
a teleconference.
Staff Recognition Luncheon
The 2007 Recognition Event will
be held on Thursday, September 13th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the lower
assembly room of the Auditorium. The change to an earlier time allows everyone
to be available to attend the Daily Prayer for Peace at 1:00 p.m.
This year our event is a sports
theme "Tail Gate Party". The menu includes brisket, baked beans, coleslaw, bread
and dessert. Punch and ice water will also be served. The event will be casual
attire. Please join us for lunch, fellowship and fun as we honor our IHQ
volunteers, co-workers and retirees for their years of dedicated service to the
mission and work of the Church.
