New Sculpture
The
wooden sculpture of Jesus, crafted by Italian sculptor Guiseppe Runggaldier in
1969, is carved out of hardwood and is nine feet in height. This gift of the
Jenkintown, Pennsylvania congregation is now hanging by the bronze doors of the
Temple.
The sculpture was donated in 2006 after residing at the
Jenkintown congregation for many years. It is now part of the permanent Temple
art collection. Jerry Nieft was responsible for the cleaning and minor repair of
the work, which was installed in its new location by ArtWorks of Kansas City
early in 2007.

Staff Worship
Thursday, March 1, a pre-World Conference worship will be held for all
staff. President Steve Veazey will be sharing information of significant
interest and importance to the church as we prepare for Conference. The worship
will begin at 3:00 p.m. central standard time (CST) in the Temple sanctuary. We
encourage you to attend in person if you work at International Headquarters or
will be in the Independence vicinity.
Christian Education
English-language Christian education materials published by Herald House for
use beginning in May are listed at
www.CofChrist.org/ChristianEd/.
This information will also be published in the March 10-Minute News Report and
April Herald. The selected resources offer a variety of choices for use until
the material currently being developed for Christian education and disciple
formation is available.
For those who wish to consider other options, there are resources on the list
from other publishers and, for resources not on the list, an evaluation form can
be downloaded from the Web site to help congregation's consider their use.
Contact Herald House for orders and questions:
www.HeraldHouse.org,
sales@HeraldHouse.org,
1-800-767-8181, or (816) 521-3015.
Daily Prayer for Peace Time Change
Beginning April 9, the Daily Prayer for Peace will move from 12:30 to 1:00
p.m. central time. For staff and visitors at International Headquarters, we
invite and encourage you to participate in the service in the Temple sanctuary.
For those who are not in Independence, pause each day for a moment of silent
prayer and know that you are raising your voice in unison with others around the
world.
World Conference Legislation
The First Presidency encourages delegates and members to read the
legislation
that will be coming before the World Conference. Please engage Conference
business with intelligence, prayer, and openness to God’s will for the church.
Those not planning to attend can assist in the church’s discernment process
through prayer and study. Please consider the legislation in ways appropriate to
your congregation, whether that is through classes, congregational meetings,
newsletters, mission center gatherings, or personal study. Your preparation will
enhance the Conference experience.
Service of Honor and Recognition
Come to the pre-Conference Service of Honor and Recognition Friday, March 23,
in the Temple sanctuary at 4:30 p.m. to honor recipients of the International
Human Rights Award, the World Community International Youth Service Award, and
the Elbert A. Smith Award for excellent writing published in the Herald, and
recognize field ministers who are retiring or have served for 25 years. Please
demonstrate your appreciation by attending this service if possible.
New Teams
Many new teams have been chartered and a list of those is available at
TeamCentral::CofChrist at http://CofChrist.netcipia.net/xwiki/bin/view/Main/Chartered+Teams.
Team charters are available for viewing on the network at M:Teams.
Printing and Production
If you need flyers, brochures, CDs, or any other resource item, contact the
Production and Distribution Team at
dwheaton@CofChrist.org. Their team can offer expertise to get the best price
for the job you need completed.
If you use the church’s Corporate CopyPrint account, your name needs to be on
the invoice. There has been some confusion about what jobs belong to whom when
invoices are sent to IHQ without identifying the person who ordered the job.
Bulk Mail
We use several companies to handle the church’s bulk mail needs. Pam Smith
coordinates the church's bulk mail efforts and bulk mail requests should be
directed to her at psmith@CofChrist.org.
There have been several situations where bulk mail gets dropped at the post
office or mail house by an individual without Pam’s knowledge. Occasionally the
mailing will just sit because there is no money in the bulk mail accounts. Other
times the mailing goes out but uses money that was intended for a different
mailing, causing havoc when that group of letters goes to be mailed.
To ensure all bulk mail gets out in a timely manner, contact Pam so she can
ensure funds are available to cover each mailing. If bulk mailing is something
you want to do yourself, you will need to take a check to the post office in the
amount needed to cover the postage of your mailing.
Customer and Member Services
If you have questions and aren’t sure who to contact, call Customer and
Member Services at ext. 1004. They are the central clearinghouse for information
to aid both headquarters and the field.
New Meeting Space
A new conference room called "TeamSpace" is available to IHQ staff and
project teams. TeamSpace is located in Room 554 of the Auditorium (formerly
Forefront) and comfortably seats ten. Room amenities include tables and chairs
that can be configured for a number uses, counter space, microwave, sink,
television, DVD player, stereo, and retractable projector screen. Teams can also
make use of a multi-function device to print, scan, fax, and copy or use the
color printer. Technology Support is planning to install a wireless access point
during the summer.
To reserve the conference room, please contact Cara Casey at ext. 3071 or
ccasey@CofChrist.org.
