Empowering ministries in
the lives of congregations

Congregation Support: Provides apostolic witness and World Church ministers throughout the church to assist congregations in determining and carrying out their mission. Provides support, training, and guidance for congregational leaders and priesthood. Makes resources available to enable community outreach and missionary activities.

Q What are our Transformation 2000 ministers doing today?

A Of the field specialists (formerly Transformation 2000 ministers), 33 are serving as youth ministers, 27 as church planters, 19 as congregational consultants, 15 as missionary specialists, 10 as young adult ministers, 9 as children's ministers, 8 as ethnic ministers, 7 as full-time pastors, 4 as urban ministers, with the balance assigned to various peace and justice, spiritual formation, and congregational support ministries.

The FY 2004 Congregation Support Section of the World Ministries budget contains funding for 193 field specialists (including national ministers), 110 appointees, and 3.5 staff executives and assistants. This totals 303 full time equivalent ministers, compared to only 127 serving in 1997.
