British Isles Look to Peacemobile 3
From the first planning meeting for a Peacemobile in the British
Isles to its unveiling took more than seven years.
February 3, 2007, marked the first opportunity for children (and
adults) to try the 20 Peacemobile exhibits. Each display, emblazoned with our
logo, let the children explore a form of peace—peace for me, peace for us, peace
for everybody, peace for the planet. Over the next two years more than 600
people took part in Peacemobile visits, mainly in church settings.
Then schools began to take an interest. Word began to spread.
Soon other schools asked if they could have the Peacemobile. While this was
great news, we had only one Peacemobile. But help came from a Tangible Love
grant (supported by the Oblation Fund). It provided funds to create Peacemobile
2.
Now we touch twice as many children. Teachers continue to tell us “this is the
best resource I have seen in years.”
Exciting news about places using the Peacemobile filled a recent
e-mail from coordinator Maria Lomax. The message ended with a question: “When do
we start work on Peacemobile 3?”
We are teaching real peace. We are beginning with children, and
it’s wonderful.
