Feinstein Project Helps the Hungry, Others
If a large photo could run with this article it would be of a
crowd—people wearing suits, dressed casually, or clad in tattered clothes.
Could you distinguish who was hungry? Who was unemployed? Who
was homeless? You might be surprised to find they all were unemployed, hungry,
and wondering about their future.
At any one time, any one of us could have a place in such a
photo. That makes the Feinstein Feed the Hungry Project important. Our people
have gained many benefits by participating.
Jim Melham from the Southeast USA Mission Center says it helps
youth develop an awareness of others’ needs. He says they see development of
compassion and a desire to help neighbors.
Generally participants view this project as a community builder.
Churches of all denominations come together. Businesses, social clubs, and
individuals grow closer as they work together.
Food pantries filled in March and April, and some people sent
food in boxes and backpacks home with schoolchildren. It’s amazing how much
difference one person’s enthusiasm and work can make. The people you serve
appreciate your effort.
Another benefit is that our 65 small groups raised more than
$450,000 in money and food in just two months. Congratulations to all who
helped. Would you like to express love for your neighbors by helping relieve
hunger? Call Joyce Carter at (352) 464-4639 to get more information about the
Feinstein Feed the Hungry Project.
